Advertising
Another way to recruit is to advertise your business. Advertising comes in different forms and fashions. Let’s go over a few different ways to advertise your business to get recruits to join your team.
Social Media Advertising
Posting on your social media accounts can be the fastest way to reach others. In today's time, it seems like everyone is on social media. You have platforms like Facebook, Twitter (which has changed to X), Instagram, TikTok and so many more. Most of these platforms are free to join and use. Use this to your advantage.
If you join the platform 'Facebook' be sure to create a business page and/or business group for your business. It's okay to advertise on your personal profile, but not everyone on your friends like wants to see your business post all the time. Use your personal profile to engage with you friends and family. Only post about your business from time to time.
We've put together some recruiting scripts that you may use along side with recruiting graphics that we've created for you. You can find the recruiting scripts here, and you'll find the recruiting graphics in your back office under the Marketing Tools tab.
Newspaper Advertising
Running a newspaper ad can be a very effective form of advertising. Remember that the costs vary depending on the paper, location, number of words, and time length of the ad. You may want to begin by running a simple ad in your own local paper. Then, think about other newspapers outside of your community. Be sure to look through your paper for titles such as ‘Home Business’ or ‘Help Wanted’.
Now days newspaper companies have their own websites. They have found that a lot of their customers prefer a digital copy of the newspaper instead of a physical paper copy. There are still plenty of paper copies printed and dispersed everyday, but most people like the convenience of having a digital copy available to them. Because of this, when you run a newspaper ad, you are not only being placed in the paper copy of the newspaper, but also on their website. Keep in mind that running a newspaper ad will cost you, but most of the time they can be very affordable.
With running any time of ad, rather online or in the newspaper, remember that sometimes people need to see your ad several times before they will actually act on it. Running an ad only once may be inexpensive, but will not bring you the results you are looking for. Don’t be nickel wise and penny foolish! Post on your socials at least 3 times a week, and if you decide to run a newspaper ad, aim for 2 times a week, if possible. With newspaper ads we would suggest running in the middle of the week and on the weekend.

Placing the ad is only half the battle. Now, you must be prepared to field the phone calls and/or messages you will receive. Don’t be discouraged if your phone or inbox doesn’t ring off the hook the first day- consistent advertising will pull in results! Keep these important things in mind:
- When will your ad run? Do you have a professional message on your voicemail? Do you have a response message saved on your computer or phone to respond quickly to messages?
- Do you have recruiting packets made up? Will you have time to meet individually with interested in joining locally?
- Are you prepared to take down their information? Use this lead sheet.
Opportunity Meetings
Consider setting up an Opportunity Meeting the week following your ad. If enough people are interested, you can meet them all at once! Hold the meeting at a restaurant with plenty of privacy. Ask your sponsor if he/she can tag along to assist you the first time if they are local. Have the date and time set before your ad runs, this way you can be totally prepared to invite any potential recruits! Follow up with them the day of the meeting to make sure they will be in attendance.
